Toyota has had formal QC circles in the company for many decades. Teams compete at the local level, national level, and at the global level in Japan. I do not have much material on this topics or training for circle leaders. There are good books in Japanese on this topic which I will supply in links below if anyone is interested. Additionally are links to a set of reference material in English and an actual Japanese example.
